Depending on the Procedure, You May Not Need Anesthesia
A big part of restorative dental care is the local anesthesia. Patients who are afraid of or uncomfortable around needles can feel a little more relaxed with the DIAGNOdent laser. Most laser procedures conducted with the DIAGNOdent do not require injectable anesthesia. Simply rubbing a numbing agent over the area to be worked is often enough. Discuss this with the dentist prior to setting up the appointment for restorative dental care.
Other Instruments May Still Be Used
The DIAGNOdent laser cannot provide an x-ray or perform more complex procedures. For that reason, other dental equipment may be used in conjunction with the DIAGNOdent. It helps to have a healthy expectation of these procedures, which the dentist can fully explain to you.
