Season’s greetings from all of us at Wither’s Dental! The holidays are upon us and that means it’s time to celebrate, gather with friends and loved ones, keep warm and cozy, and stay on top of your oral health routine! Wither’s Dental is your Manhattan Beach dentistry and destination for general, restorative, and cosmetic dental treatment. We care about taking care of your teeth through the holiday cheer and any time of year. Here’s our top five tips for taking care of your teeth this holiday season.
Take it Easy on the Sweets

The holidays present a major dental challenge in the shape of too many tasty, sometimes cavity-inducing treats! Always remember that having a few extra desserts this time of year is totally ok, as long as it’s done in moderation. Sugar is the primary cause of tooth decay and gum disease, so it is critical to thoroughly clean your teeth after every meal and snack. Carbs, from foods such as bread and pasta, also break down into sugar and cause the same problems for teeth and overall health. If you have braces or other orthodontic appliances, don’t eat those off-limits foods or you might break the appliance and extend your treatment time.
Maintain Your Routine
Sometimes traveling during the holidays changes up our routines and makes it difficult to stay on track with healthy habits. Try your best to maintain your oral health routine even while traveling, and your teeth will thank you. Almost every product you use to clean your teeth and gums is available in convenient travel sizes, so packing your dental survival kit shouldn’t be too difficult.
Catch Up on Annual Cleanings
Although it might seem counterintuitive, the holidays are one of the best times to come in for your annual dental cleaning. The kids are back from college, work and school are on hold, and our office has decked the halls to welcome you, so what better time to come in and visit Wither’s Dental. Just remember that our office will be closed from December 22 to January 3. We can’t wait to see you and get your smile shined up for the new year! Contact us or schedule online today.
